HYC at LCP
In 2015 HYC relocated our agency headquarters office from Norwalk, where we continue to maintain a satellite office, to Liberty Community Plaza in Unincorporated South Whittier. Liberty Community Plaza is a new, $20 million state-of-the art community center owned and constructed by the County of Los Angeles and operated by HYC. Our organization serves as the site manager and provides its counseling, treatment and educational programs. Through this innovative public/private partnership, HYC is working in collaboration with the County to design and implement programs that are responsive to the needs and interests of diverse community members, groups and organizations.
Besides offering their own classes and programming, HYC also brings new classes and programs to the community using the Liberty Plaza facilities. Call Liberty Plaza or HYC for more information about these FREE programs, including:

The site also includes an outdoor recreation area with educational gardens, a running/walking track, tot lot, exercise equipment, an outdoor amphitheater, solar demonstration project, and a Veterans Honor Walk and Freedom Garden.
Liberty Plaza is also home to the HYC Teen Center, a comfortable and inviting space where young people can study and do homework as well as participate in on-site learning sessions with adult mentors who provide guidance regarding career options and paths.
HYC community partners currently serving at Liberty Community Plaza include Rio Hondo College, which is providing educational consultations for Veterans; the Orchard Dale Water District and Water Replenishment District, which are partners in the Water Conservation Demonstration project on the grounds of Liberty Community Plaza; Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary, which is supporting the ongoing care of the Veterans Honor Walk and Freedom Garden; and Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital (PIH), which provides on-site community health screenings and health education sessions.
We are grateful to our community partners and volunteers for their dedication to making Liberty Community Plaza a growing destination for learning, fun, and opportunity. If you have a talent or skill you would like to share with the community, we are always looking for qualified volunteers! Please contact Guest Services to get started with the volunteer application process.
