Psychiatrist (Part-Time)

Summary/Objective

The psychiatrist position diagnoses, prescribes medication, monitors medication side effects and participates in the treatment process.

Essential Functions

  1. Completes Psychiatric Evaluation within 10 days of initial request for medication support services and monitors medications during face to face visits at least 1x monthly.

  2. Evaluates all available clinical data (including initial assessments completed by clinician, request for medication support referrals etc.) pertaining to client’s upon admission and on all other occasions, when needed.

  3. Performs clinical screening and referral of all conditions in need of consultation from medical, non-psychiatric specialties.

  4. Participates in the treatment planning and goal setting process for each client assigned, with special attention to all medical aspects of the plan.

  5. Reviews, approves and signs all medication support treatment goals.

  6. Documents client’s progress in GIRP format progress notes for every contact with client within 48 hours of visit.

  7. Explains medication effects and side effects to client or guardian at admission with review of the Consent Forms for all clients and obtains consent for treatment from appropriate persons.

  8. Performs crisis intervention (by telephone if needed) for all clients, during non-office hours as assigned, making any reports to assigned Clinical Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager.

  9. Consults and advises the clinical staff, Clinical Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • Medical degree.

  • Experience working with children and families

  • Experience with Medi-Cal

  • Experience in community field work.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • M.D. or N.P.

  • Board Certified Psychiatrist.

  • Must have and maintain a current Physician License

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile.
