Health Care Access

Provides health care insurance outreach, enrollment and case management services for uninsured children and families living in Service Planning Area 7 and other areas of California.

Prevention and Aftercare Services

A comprehensive, integrated continuum of prevention and aftercare services and resources aimed to assist families in preventing child maltreatment or address the needs of at-risk families to prevent child abuse. Services include parenting classes, health care outreach, family engagement activities, anger management, health and nutrition classes.

Economic Development

HYC is a partner in the Alliance for Asset Building, operating two Community Tax Centers (CTC) in L.A. County Service Planning Area 7. The CTCs utilize trained volunteer tax preparers to provide assistance to low-income working families and individuals in understanding and claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit and other eligible credits. Community members are also connected to mainstream banking services, ITIN application and preparation and other financial supports such as financial literacy and household budgeting.

Community Organizing

 HYC is engaged in community organizing work with parents in Central Long Beach with funding support from The California Endowment. This project provides tools for parents to have a voice in shaping local policies and programs related to violence prevention, community health and positive youth development.

Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program

A case management, eviction prevention and rental assistance program for low-income families in the City of South Gate at risk of losing their housing due to the economic recession.
